As a neuroophthalmologist I am acutely aware of the need for superlative visual acuity. There is no choice to be bad. Without excellent vision I could not practice my profession, I could not see small lesions in the MRI studies of patients. It would become impossible to detect small and clinically important lesions in the retina of my patients. As such deciding to have refractive surgery was a major decision, for me a decision which could have enormous consequences for the future. I could only do a procedure which could theoretically have a negative consequence under the hands of only the very best, the top doctor in the field and only with the kind of technology which afforded one the maximum of safety and efficacy.
With those ideas in mind I decided to consult Dr. med. Philipp Bänninger who performed the procedure cTEN on me. Of course there were months of measurements with and without glasses, with and without contact lenses that took place before the procedure was perfomred. The pre-operative consultations were very detailed and performed by expert and very kind staff. Dr. med. Philipp Bänninger is an absolute gem. The actual procedure was painless and it took only a few minutes. The post-operative pain and light sensitivity were successfully treated with eyedrops. The discomfort was only temporary and not major at all. The preventive measures are sufficient and the materials provided with simple explanation by a very knowledgeable staff.
Four Months later I had 110% vision in both eyes, an incredible feat for me. I had struggled with contact lenses for irregular astigmatism for years, never happy with them. Glasses were a major problem for me. For the first time in my adult life I could go around the world without having to worry about putting something in to my eyes to see. A major success in every sense. I am terribly delighted to have made this decision.
